Course Description

This is an upper level seminar in contemporary political and social theory. Students will read and discuss philosophical texts in Critical Theory and Postmodernism that pertain to the analysis of society: citizenship, governance, political and economic justice, the future state. Readings may include figures such as Marx, Marcuse, Horkheimer and Adorno, Benjamin, Lukacs, Bloch, Gramsci, Habermas, Foucault, Deleuze and Guattari.
