Course Description
Permission of Instructor required. In-depth readings and discussions (in Spanish) of literary essays written during the 19th and 20th centuries by Spanish and Spanish-American authors on a wide orbit of themes that range from culture and politics to personal and intellectual explorations of the Hispanic collective psyche. Authors included in the course are the members of the Generation of 98 in Spain (Unamuno, Azor-n, Baroja, et. al.); and Mari-!tegui, Asturias, Neruda, Mallea, Octavio Paz, Rosario Castellanos, Rosario Ferrer, and others from the Spanish-America (that is, from the Spanish-speaking countries in Latin America).
