Course Description
Corequisite: NURS 5422. This practicum provides a clinical setting for the integration of classroom material presented in Adult I (NURS 5422). Clinical experience is facilitated through a preceptor model in which preceptors MUST be a licensed physician (MD or DO) in the state of New Jersey or a nurse practitioner (NP) that is nationally certified as an ANP/AGPCNP/FNP and licensed to practice in the state of New Jersey. Emphasis will be placed on refining history-taking and physical exam skills. The focus is on primary care of the young adult client. Roy's Adaptation Model will serve as the theoretical framework for this course. Concurrent enrollment in Adult I(NURS 5422) is required. At least 168 hours must be spent in clinical areas with preceptor supervision. Students are expected to arrange times and dates with clinical preceptors.
