PEDIATRIC OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY INTERVENTION

Course Description

This course explores the meaningful engagement in pediatric occupations with application of appropriate theories/models of practice/frames of reference in the occupational therapy intervention process. The course provides an overview of occupational therapy in various contexts with a focus on the importance of play for children. Strategies for evoking successful participation and engagement in desired occupations during intervention planning and implementation are identified with emphasis on public school and community settings. Ethics, advocacy, interdisciplinary problem solving, use of evidence-based practice resources, development of appropriate outcome measures, and caregiver issues are addressed in a variety of environments. Offered Spring semester only.
