Course Description
Open to graduate students and qualified undergraduates (those who have completed a minimum of 96 undergraduate credits with an overall GPA of at least 3.2). Qualified undergraduates must contact the Office of Graduate Studies for the required permission form. This course will examine the conditions, causes, and outcomes of a series of racial conflicts in the U.S. between 1917 and 1923, with an emphasis on the particularly violent and divisive period in 1919 known as "Red Summer."
