Course Description

This tutorial/independent study course offers select undergraduate students the opportunity to engage in hands-on research experiences in a laboratory focused on childhood and adolescence. Student research assistants will work closely with the instructor (faculty mentor) and other research assistants on ongoing research projects as well as their own independent research, gaining practical skills in research methodology, data collection, coding, analysis, and interpretation. Emphasis will be placed on ethical considerations in research with children and adolescents, the understanding and application of developmental theories, data collection and analysis, and the effective oral and written communication of research findings.
